This was the day hardest to wake up for. The day before we had done so much walking I was extremely exhausted... Plus everyone stayed up late haunting Scraper's room to hang out and do some last minute visiting. Many people were leaving early and would not be staying for the EDGE activities that day.

It was rather fun Saturday night as everyone with laptops were playing Manhole, Cosmic Osmo and other fun stuff for the enjoyment of everyone. :)

I managed to get to the hotel restaurant despite my reservations and ate another dimly lit "power" breakfast. After that I went out and managed to catch a ride with SR388 and Alahmnat to the park. We were heading out to Fairmount park for the EDGE events. We waited around for stragglers but lost quite a few to lack of directions to the park (Philly is a complicated city to drive in!)

The drive to Fairmount took us past a few sites I had seen on the way into town from the airport... especially this one little junkyard I had really wished I could have filmed. It had this spooky futuristic looking crane that reminded me of some metallic beast from one of those anime shows or else the movie Terminator. ;) We passed through some very beautiful areas and could see the huge white balloon over the treeline that said "Zoo" on it. Finally we arrived at the park but was unsure of the direction to the EDGE area. Stopping for directions, we finally were on course and ended up at this beautiful wooded area.

Everyone unloaded and those without discs bought some. Alahmnat had a video camera and started filming the area in preparation. Scraper led the group out into the wooded part past a sign that named the park as "Sedgly Woods". Scraper detailed what we had to do and how and why and all the wherefors. I had forgotten my discs in my luggage so I just watched and took pictures. I even found some wild strawberries at one point. :) I just wish the pics of them had come out. :(

Poor Alah was a target half the time... unintentionally of course. He got hit in the leg twice and once almost in the face... only the fact that he had the camera running and at his face did he NOT get hit directly. I think someone is selling "Alahmnat is not a Target" shirts on one of those cafepress stores. ;)

I think the regular EDGE players were looking at us weird. LOL We kept moving aside to let others through as we were taking out time and just having fun. This one group, a young man and woman passed through with their child and man did they throw a good disc! The woman must have gotten a good 100 yard lead on hers! The guy did about the same. We were all very impressed and Scraper made a note to say something about "that's" what we were aiming for. :D

We did about three "holes" and on the last was where we did all the contests:

  • Longest throw
  • Straightest throw
  • Silliest throw
    etc etc...

At the end we did some fun stuff. Hopefully we'll be able to get that video all processed for that last day and you can see what we did. ;)

Well after that it was a real rush to try and see who would take who to the airport and how and all that good stuff. We stopped briefly at the hotel to get our stuff together and then went out to eat. A few of us ended up eating at this nice pub / restaurant kind of place called London Grill. That's where I picked up my little "friend" who didn't help foot the bill. ;P But it was all cool and we had fun. :) Salar took both Scraper and I in her car to the airport after we stopped at the train station (which was beautiful!) to drop off a few of the others who were going home by maglev. ;)

I was happy to be finally going home when we arrived at the airport but I was still feeling rather elated and semi-sad that I was leaving Philly. I had only a small taste of the city and really wanted to explore a great deal more of it and with all the nice people I had come to meet. :) While sitting in the airport, I managed to draw a few of the scenes from the presentation... I was in a kind of download mode and drawing furiously. I wish I had had a bigger book to draw in but I had only a small pocket notebook with ruled pages. In the future I may show these sketches but for now they are for me alone.

It was a nicer flight going back. I had aisle seating and for once, I got a nice row with my chair being so far out it had extra leg room! *sigh of relief* I was comfortable... I actually slept a bit. The pilot was worried we were going to be late since alot of people had been put on this flight due to their own being delayed. I was very impressed when he said how fast we were going: 535 mph or 1 mile every 6.5 seconds! :D When we hit memphis it was raining a bit and overcast. I was exhausted but less nervous than the flight up. I found my gate then proceeded to walk around the area and find me something to eat. I chatted it up with a few employees near a shake stand (a very good shake!) and later got me a nice 2 scoop sundae from a baskin robbins in the airport. This place was fantastic! :)

I was happy when I was finally able to get home. It was the best moment of my life. ;) I ended up dragging myself to my car and getting home without much ado. I was so happy I kissed three walls in my apt as I entered. :D It was so nice to be home! I missed Philly and all my friends but to be home was great! :D
