Cyan Headquarters "...but should I be believing that I am only dreaming ..."

Woke up early for me (10am mine 8 am Spokane time) and got ready for the day ahead. I was still extremely exhausted from all the running around on Friday...especially from the Lasertag games. I was still disappointed I didn't get to hang out with David but I knew he would be around at Cyan.

Finally we all took off to Cyan. The way was sparsely populated and swept over hilly grounds covered in tall firs and pines. There were a few log cabiny looking houses along the way. It was very different than anything I was used to from Texas. Eventually we turned into the right road and made it to Cyan. :D

Everyone milled around and started to sign in at a table set up outside. Rawa's wife Angie was helping to get people signed in. While standing around I bumped into the Penners. It was an exciting moment to see them there face to face. I also got to say hi to a few others I hadn't seen yet. Many people only showed up for the Saturday festivities. After a bit everyone turned to the front of the building where Rand Miller appeared with Rawa, Scraper and one of Rand's daughters to greet us and welcome us to Cyan. Rand was a riot and extremely witty. :) Finally we were set about on our paths to either the main building, outside on the grounds or to the "South" building to see the demos and all.

In the South building we were shown a demo of how URU worked and shown how we can change our avatars to personalize them. It was really interesting. Bill Slease showed us the finer points of how the game works and what we could be expecting. After a few mins of this we were let out into the building to either get on a pc and try URU, see some concept art and meet some other Cyanites or get on a pc for Cyan Chat. I did Cyan Chat for a bit and then went to the concept art area. MarkD was there and I introduced myself to him. He remembered me so I was excited about that. *grins* Plus I was able to get him to sign the back of my From Myst to Riven book and later Rand came and I had him sign that and my "Wired" Mag about Riven. :) Josh Straub showed up too so I had him sign on my book. We all noticed the profile in masking tape on the floor of the building which was in the shape of the falling man and they let us take pics of it.

We were let out and allowed to enter the "North" building to see props and such. I missed alot of the props. I spent the first 30 mins or so trying to buy things and picking up the free stuff they gave us (URU shirts were free!!!!) and Ryan Miller was around with Eloise helping out. He had his Inkarri book out for sale (which I think everyone bought) which he was signing. I had him sign it but then Mushee had taken alot of out stuff to get it out of the way so I had someone take a pic of me and Ryan with one of the books there in the pile. He's so funny. He kind of dressed, looked like and sounded rather "surfer." :) Everyone was so laid back it was really cool!

After I got through with that, I managed to get him to sign in the back of my FMTR and wandered off to see props. I got some pics (not so good) of the cho and katran outfits along with the collection of games and software they had written. They had a display of it all in the middle of the two outfit display cases. I saw some folks in the elevator and got a quick shot of the D'ni elevator buttons aswell. :) Then I bumped into the Penners and Tim Larkin in the hallway. I stopped to say hi and get Tim to sign my book. Plus... I wanted a pic of me with him and the Penners. He was in a good mood and snuck us down to his studio. It was really REALLY awesome. I got to listen to some stuff he was working on and talked to Mike and Suzanne a bit. After a while we ended up out back with the rest of the people at the bbq. They were cooking up hotdogs and passing out drinks and such. I bumped into David again and some others and we all hung out. Eventually David and I walked around to explore the falls which were really beautiful and talk. I wandered back down and got more people to sign my book. Brice seemed a bit bewildered by anyone wanting him to sign but I insisted. LOL Same with Lemonlime. Bob was really receptive along with another buddy of theirs that worked with them. They all signed it happily. I got a nice pic of Bob with GreyDragon. They look so cute in the pic. Bob was really talkative and interesting to listen to. I think he's a programmer there... I keep losing track of everyone since I don't go to chat that much.

After a time Rand got everyone to listen up and he did a Q&A session. It lasted about 30 mins before they started to hand out door prizes. Prizes started out with "Farthest come" which went to Rium+. He got a FRAMED URU shot. Then "Oldest come" and that went to someone who was over 60. They received an URU print. For some reason everyone thought DannyR would win. LOL Then came random number picked (as Rand said) by a program that took RAWA 3 wks to create in Hypercard to just do 2 seconds of work that day. ;) That was won by David. I teased him by saying "You're going to SHARE that right?" ;) He won a SECRET URU shot print that will not be revealed on this site and hopefully not on any others as they asked us to NOT show it. Then it seemed Mysterium was slowing down and everyone started to disperse to some degree. There were PLENTY of stragglers (myself included) who stood around and waited to be kicked out. ;) Scraper and some of us found it funny that the big drains (reminescent of the ones in Stoneship) had chests (ice chests that is) draining into them at the end of the event. ;)

Finally we left and headed out for dinner. It was all up to everyone to choose their own area. After dinner it was back to the hotel for presentations.

Presentations were the best I think I've seen. The first one was Anna K doing a history about Narayans. The rest I remember out of order. We also had lonely and his movie about lemmings in Myst. We had Zardoz and his "realMyst flying" presentation. SR388 and his friend Don did a movie about the stacking penguins from last year's Mysterium. :) We also had Teresa with her guild cloak from Riven and Matt who did the Myst play. Apparently Suzanne Penner was a teacher at his school when he did this. He was a sweet kid. I ended up talking to him, Pebble and Chronomancer most of the night after the presentations. Matt is a major bookworm and he had even read Voltaire! I was really surprised. LOL I know very few people who even know who Voltaire is. :) It was all fun!
