Sears Roebucks or Bust a cloud...
Day two of the trip to the age of Wind and humidity. Everyone got up, and lucky me my baggage arrived
and I was able to help Tresah out a bit. Then the last of us had breakfast at the buffet before it closed.
Barely got there to get anything but managed to get a tidbit or two. Then we just hung around
the lobby for a while not sure what to do. A new guy was there named Kurt. He liked to talk
about Sirrus alot and things about Myst. I was waiting to see if Scraper would show but she was
running late so everyone wanted to go do something. We tried to invite him out with us once the group decided
to go to the Sears' tower but he was waiting for his mother I think.
We all took off enmass down the street with
two of our group who knew where things were in the lead. We got to the Sears' Tower not too much later and went
down to the ticket area to get to the main line. We were in line to see some movie about Chicago before
that but Tresah and me wanted squashed pennies and when we turned the doors to the movie were shut. :( So we waited
but noticed some open place with a rope across that went obviously to the top level. We tried to cut when our group
came by but people wanted to cut too and we tried to explain we lost our group and weren't just cutting the movie
line. Then the person in charge came and stopped us but remembered our group and let us thru w/o getting mad at us.
We went up the ear popping elevator after a bit and were at the top of the world. :D
The view was magnificent but you could feel the altitude. It was cool. We saw all of Chicago from the top. Lots of
people there and we wandered around until we could wander no more. ;) Then we went on back to the Hotel and found
more people there and hung out and all. Things are fuzzy cause it's been a whole week since the trip and I was so darn tired. LOL Never been so exhausted in my life
but still having so much fun. :D Well, we did eat I know. Maybe it was the dinner we had with Khatie and everyone. I forget.
We ended up with some of their pizza which wasn't half bad. I have to thank Dust'in for that. Then Scraper and company showed and we started to get ready for the evening
presentations. It was a busy evening. As we were setting up the projector started to smell of burnt plastic. *sighs*
I called my folks to see if my brother was around, it's his projector, but they said they hadn't seen him. My dad got
on the phone and tried to help out but what he suggested wasn't anything we could do at the time. Plus w/o tools I
couldn't open up the box and do anything. So we just rearranged people's presentations to be where every other one
was a NON projector event. That way the projector wasn't on so much and it could cool off a bit. Unfortunately for
atleast one person the projector didn't like the laptop and wouldn't change over and show the presentation.
Before presentations, Timeposter ran around with a video camera and asked random people to say things on camera
for a film to be taken to Cyan HQ. They asked me and I really didn't want to being so shy but I blurted something
out about not working so hard. I think I mentioned not getting burned out just to please us. :D Then presentations
started and I don't recall the order but the first one was Rand Miller and Richard Watson on speaker phone with
Scraper. WHEEEE! Then I think we had a presentation about the quilts Budgie Mom made. There was a presentation
by Bastiko about Pokemon characters being the people who are actually the strangers in Myst games. LOL That was
amusing. The DLF talked about Mandalas out of D'ni characters. That was by Anna Kat, K'laamas and I feel bad
but I forget the last guy's name. *blush* Then there was one by Golden Wedge I think who talked about Markers in UU
and games for that. Deg did one about sites promoting Myst fans such as Mystblogs, Myst Union and D'ni Explorers Guild.
Tresah did a short one about things that could be marketed by Cyan that
she made. It was just for fun but she had some cute things like her Stuffed Squee from last yr, a lunchbox,
and a page with cute stuff she made like her Katran barbie. This guy named "River" showed some books he made.
They were copies of the Myst journals. Very cool! I Know there were more but I'm drawing a blank.
The last presentation was the movie from the
beginning of END of AGES. WHEEEE! That was awesome! I wish I had a copy. :D
Then everyone hung around and talked while moving out of the presentation room. We were a bit over time and moved
into the lobby area. We all hung out till late although I went to bed at 2 am. I was beat. Never did so much walking
since Carlsbad. By this time Tresah had her luggage and her room. So did alot of other people. I think I was the
holder of luggage most of the weekend while people were sorting their rooms out.
End of transmission, Day 2...
